In Fall 2020, Google Pixel & Disney/Lucas Film partnered to promote the iconic show The Mandalorian along with the new Pixel 5G phone.

The teams collaborated closely to create a next-generation augmented reality experience, leveraging 5G to enable a hyper-realistic rendition of the show’s most iconic scenes. Five immersive scenes were created allowing fans to interact with Mando and the Child in their own environment.

The AR experience was the core component of a massive integrated campaign for the launch of the Google Pixel 5. It was promoted through multiple video ads, in-store showcases in thousands of Verizon and a comprehensive social media campaign powered by top US influencers. The program was a critical success, receiving a 4.3* review score in the Google Play, generating 11M views for its teaser and getting mentions in 200+ publications worldwide including TechCrunch, the Verge, Starwars.com, Engadget and Fast Company.

Matthieu Lorrain led the whole program acting as both Executive Creative Director and Executive Producer. His role was to direct concept ideation, creative execution, product development and oversee a cross-functional team of 50+ creative directors, designers, creative coders, 3D artists and producers. The app was developed with the production companies Trigger and Jam3. Matthieu was also responsible for driving the overarching marketing campaign creative executions, including promotional material and ads.
